The Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine regularly educates 12-15 candidates per year who are working toward the titles PhD (natural scientists and social scientists), MD-PhD (medical doctors) or DVM-PhD (veterinarians).
There are two options for graduate-level education in Bern: the Graduate School of Health Sciences and the Graduate School of Cellular and Biological Sciences. PhD candidates can register with either of the programs. In addition, candidates are eligible to attend the interuniversity PhD program of the Swiss School of Public Health, which is coordinated by ISPM.
For a list of courses available to PhD students through ISPM and through the SSPH+ PhD program in Public Health see here.
