Study programs

The University of Bern’s Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine (ISPM) contributes to study programs in Human Medicine (Bachelor’s and Master’s) and Biomedical Sciences (Master’s).

The study of Human Medicine in Switzerland is a federally regulated and structured university education lasting six years, with years 1 to 3 at the Bachelor’s level and years 4 to 6 at the Master’s level, followed by an exam and further mandatory education. At the University of Bern these courses are offered in German.

The Master’s in Biomedical Sciences lasts three semesters and prepares students for a career in academic or pharmaceutical biomedical research. The language of instruction is English.
