In collaboration with Prof. Ana Maria Vicedo Cabrera and Dr. Ana Bonell, I work on a master’s thesis entitled “Climate change and maternal health: modelling the impact of heat stress among subsistence farmers in The Gambia”.

Our primary objective of this project is to enhance our understanding about how environmental conditions influence heat strain during pregnancy and at which thresholds the risk of heat strain increases. We investigate the effect of environmental parameters on maternal heat strain and evaluate the effectiveness of heat stress indices in modeling this relationship. Overall, we seek to contribute to the growing scientific evidence that supports the development of targeted healthcare policies and adaptation strategies, including safety limits for the exposure to heat during pregnancy.
