PD Dr. Marija Glisic is a medical doctor with a master's degree in health sciences and a PhD in Epidemiology from Erasmus University Medical Center (Rotterdam, the Netherlands). She has also completed a post-doctoral qualification (Habilitation) in Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Bern, Switzerland. Marija leads a research group at the Institute for Social and Preventative Medicine (ISPM) and co-leads the Cardiometabolic and Respiratory Research group at Swiss Paraplegic Research (SPF) in Campus Nottwil, Switzerland. Her research focuses on understanding the metabolic consequences of spinal cord injury, their interplay with neurological recovery and functioning, and the development of effective preventive strategies for cardiometabolic disease in this vulnerable population. Marija teaches epidemiology, translational medicine, evidence-based medicine, and sex and gender medicine at the University of Bern, University of Zurich, and University of Lucerne.
