Karavasiloglou Nena, Dr. sc. nat

I am an epidemiologist and nutrition expert dedicated to understanding how food influences disease development, progression, and outcomes. I hold a degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from Harokopio University and an MSc in Nutrition and Health, specialising in Epidemiology & Public Health from Wageningen University. In 2020, I obtained my PhD in Epidemiology, with a focus on cancer epidemiology, from the University of Zurich. In my role as a postdoctoral researcher at ISPM Bern, I contribute to several national and international projects on the rare disease primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD), including the participatory study Living with PCD and the clinical cohort EPIC-PCD. I collaborate closely with patient partners and clinical and research collaborators, and my research on the epidemiology of PCD focuses on disease course and prognosis, and health-related behaviours, particularly nutrition and physical activity.
