Dr. Samuel Lüthi is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Climate Epidemiology and Public Health group. With a background in climate science and natural catastrophe impact modelling, he works at the intersection of climate science and epidemiology.

Sam earned his PhD in the Weather and Climate Risks group at ETH Zurich, where he researched the economic impacts of wildfires and the potential mortality effects of extreme summer seasons. He also holds a Master’s and a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science from ETH Zurich, specializing in Atmosphere and Climate Science.

Before, during and after his studies, Sam spent eight years at Swiss Re, working in the Economic Research and Natural Catastrophe teams. He has also served as a consultant to the World Bank and the United Nations focusing on the impacts of natural disasters in a rapidly changing climate.

At CEPH, Sam’s research focuses on improving our ability to attribute health impacts to climate change, within the TACTIC project funded by the Wellcome Trust.
