Research Group: Research on Research

The Research on Research (RoR) group is dedicated to enhancing the way research is conducted, communicated, and implemented. Officially launched at ISPM in April 2025, the RoR group builds on the previous work of its leader while integrating the diverse expertise of our members.

Our goal is to improve the quality of research and strengthen the research ecosystem by focusing on four key pillars:

  1. Presentation of research findings to ensure clarity and impact.
  2. Effective communication with diverse stakeholders.
  3. Public engagement to bridge the gap between research and society.
  4. Diversity and inclusivity within the research community.

We developed, adapted, and applied methods to enhance the interpretability and practical utility of research findings, particularly in clinical settings. For e.g., we applied advanced statistical methods (such as Bayesian approaches) to interpret positive and negative clinical trial results and support evidence-based decision-making. Additionally, we will explore tailored communication strategies to optimize the dissemination and real-world implementation of research outcomes, ensuring relevance for all stakeholders.

A major focus of our work is strengthening the research ecosystem by promoting the integration of sex and gender considerations from the earliest stages of the research process (the GRACE project). Our goal is to generate more accurate, equitable, and actionable scientific knowledge that advances populations’ health.

In the ATHENA 2 project, we investigate how factors such as gender, geographical affiliation, and country income status influence the success of research manuscripts : from peer review to final acceptance. The main goal is to promote more equity in the research production and dissemination.

Led by our "Young Researchers at ISPM" community, the (under construct) Podcast initiative will aim to raise awareness among academic community and the public about the importance of public health. Through interactive and engaging podcast sessions, we will highlight key projects conducted at ISPM, making research more accessible and visible. Stay tuned for more updates!
