The talent prize is offered to the paediatric resident with the best scientific article in the paediatric field. The evaluation was based on the work done by the trainee herself, the originality, completeness, scientific accuracy, and contribution to science.
Carmen’s article named “Diagnosis of Asthma in Children: findings from the Swiss Paediatric Airway Cohort” assessed the accuracy of respiratory symptoms, objective tests and guideline algorithms to diagnose asthma in children. Her work, supervised by Prof. Claudia Kühni and funded by the SNF, contributed to the new guideline of the European Respiratory Society for diagnosing asthma in children aged 5-16 years.
