The Executive Board of the University of Bern has appointed Ana Maria Vicedo-Cabrera to the new professorship in Climate Impact and Public Health in the Built Environment. With an endowment of 2 million Swiss francs for 4 years by the Mobilière Cooperative, Ana M. Vicedo-Cabrera will continue to develop her research at ISPM and OCCR on the impacts of climate and other related environmental hazards on human health. She joined the University of Bern in 2019 to lead the Climate Change and Health research group at ISPM. Since then, she has established a team of 10 members thanks to the acquisition of third-party funding and the support of the University of Bern. In particular, she is one of the SNSF Starting Grant 2022 awardees and leads one of the projects within the NCCS-Impacts project framework funded by the National Center for Climate Services. She has been recently awarded a Wellcome Trust project grant, and has an extensive collaborative network with researchers in Swiss institutions and abroad. Her research develops along the intersection between epidemiology, public health and climate sciences to understand how different climate factors and other related environmental stressors affect health in the context of climate change. With this new position, she aims to continue performing cutting-edge research in climate epidemiology and establish the Climate Change and Health research team as one of the leading research groups in this area. She will contribute to the management of ISPM as the new member of the directorate board of the institute.
