Every year on Future Day, thousands of schoolchildren participate enthusiastically in special projects organised throughout Switzerland to get a glimpse into different professions and get motivated for their future. For a second year in a row, ISPM Bern joined the program “Ein Tag als Chefin” and hosted a group of school-aged girls on November 9th. Hosted by Dr Myrofora Goutaki and with the participation of colleagues from numerous research groups of ISPM, the girls heard about what is epidemiology and learned about the variety of research projects led by ISPM researchers, in the field paediatric and rare diseases and many other areas. They participated in research meetings, collected and analysed their own data, and discussed the importance and challenges of pursuing a career in academia as a female.
We enjoyed having them over this year and we are looking forward to host more children next year!
