The Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine (ISPM) at the University of Bern provides undergraduate and postgraduate education and carries out interdisciplinary research in the fields of social and behavioural health, clinical epidemiology and biostatistics, and international and environmental health. Eminent speakers from Switzerland and abroad give presentations at monthly lectures where researchers from other institutes and members of the public are welcome to attend.

Award
Franco Romero, PhD student at ISPM Bern, won the Best Podcast-Format Research Presentation award at the 2025 Swiss Paediatric Conference for his work on using routine electronic health records to enhance data collection in paediatric cohort studies. His project, part of the SPHN-SPAC Demonstrator Project, highlighted both the potential and challenges of integrating standardised routine clinical data into paediatric research.
