Grant Swiss Cancer Research

07.07.2025 – Fabiën Belle received a grant from Swiss Cancer Research/ Krebsforschung Schweiz.

Fabiën Belle (Principal Investigator) and Christina Schindera (Co-Applicant) have received funding from Swiss Cancer Research for their project “Trajectories of Growth and Weight of Childhood Cancer Patients: From Birth to Late Adulthood”.

With this support, they will launch a new research initiative to investigate the nutritional status of childhood cancer patients during and after treatment. The project will harness the power of large routine health datasets to explore changes in height and weight over the past four decades.

This collaborative effort will include partners from Inselspital, UKBB, Kinderspital Zürich, HUG, and CHUV. Additionally, the team will lead the Obesity Taskforce within the International Guideline Harmonization Group (IGHG, www.ighg.org) to develop international surveillance guidelines for obesity in collaboration with researchers from the Princess Máxima Center for Pediatric Oncology (Netherlands) and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (USA).

The grant will fund a PhD candidate and a postdoctoral researcher for the next three years.
